Pen & Paper Football
This is a dice-based simulation of a single 15-week season of gridiron football.
It is an electronic adaptation of an existing dice-based pencil-and-paper solitaire game (which was, itself, inspired by traditional pen & paper role playing games.) True to these roots, everything in this implementation is dice-based. The team names, colors, team attributes, and the scores for every match are 100% random.
During a match, each team gets a modifier to their die rolls: the difference between the given team's offense attribute and the opposing team's defense attribute. There is an additional +1 modifier for the home team. (The Superbowl is held at a neutral field; no home field advantage is applied there.)
To simplify the implementation, every match will end after four quarters with no overtime. During regular season play, tie games go on the teams' record as such. During the playoffs and Superbowl, tie games trigger a rematch and a whole new match will be played!
This game might be better described as an interactive screen saver or a type of light passive entertainment. You can sit back and enjoy the unpredictability of RNG and watch to see if that underdog team can defy the odds and go on to win the Superbowl!
All you need to do is keep pressing Enter (or tap on a blank area of the screen) to roll the dice or advance to the next screen!
